Bible

We believe that the Bible in its entirety, that is the Old and the New Testament is the word of God revealed and inspired, free of error in the original manuscript. Therefore, the Bible is relevant in being the only authority for faith and lives of believers in all times and ages.

Trinity

We believe that God is one, eternal, holy, and gracious. He is also the Creator, Ruler, and Sustainer of the universe and everything in it. We also believe that this one God exist in three divine persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each person is uncreated, of one essence, and equal in power and glory. He is sovereign in the salvation and judgment of humankind.

Man and Sin

We believe that man, male and female, has been created according to God’s image and has been crowned with glory and given a commission to fill the earth, steward, and cultivate all his creation. But man has fallen into sin, separated from God, losing the will to live according to God’s image, therefore unable to save themselves.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God, fully God and Man, the Redeemer and the only way to salvation for all humankind. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived without sin, perfect in sacrifice and love. He was crucified on the cross, raised from the dead in a real resurrection body, ascended to heaven, sitting on the right side of God the Father, being the Great High Priest for believers and only Mediators between God and mankind, and also King of all kings.

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the living God, who convicts man of sin, truth, and judgement. He regenerates believers, living, sanctifying and empowering with spiritual gifts, according  to his will for witnessing, fellowship and service toward the building of the body of Christ.

Salvation

We believe that man can only be saved by grace and justified by faith to Jesus Christ, and not by merit, work, nor holiness of man. Through God’s saving work, the image of God in man is redeemed. Therefore, man is enabled to live a life full of responsibility, dedication and love before God and man.

Church

We believe that the church is the fellowship of all believers from all times and nations. The church is the holy and universal body of Christ, with Christ has its Head. Through worship services, teaching, and sacrament of Holy Baptism and the Holy Communion, the church proclaims the Kingdom of God and serves in holiness, and as the salt and light of the world, responsible in serving the community in the spirit of mission and evangelism.

Vision:

Becoming a church after God’s heart, presenting the best for Him, achieving a balanced ministry to dynamically incorporate family to the church and incorporate church to the family for the glory of God.

Mission:

GII Hok Im Tong exists to serve cities for reaching, winning, serving, and discipling families and also sending them to be the bearers of the Kingdom of God on earth.

history

IEC-LA began around March 2007 by a team from GII Hok Im Tong consisting of Rev. Dr. Caleb Tong, Ev. Dorothy Tong, Ev. Isabel Tong, Rev. Agus Gunawan, Rev. Jusak Susabda, and Dkn. Rudy Soendjojo. After much prayer and exploration, they see Los Angeles as ready to be a mission field for GII Hok Im Tong.

The pioneering began by establishing the first El Shaddai Fellowship at Hilton Hotel, 225 West Valley Boulevard, San Gabriel, CA. Additionally, every Friday night a Bible Study is conducted in three locations: private homes of Moses, Yung Lie, and Siu Lie.

Seeing that the fellowship was positively received, then the pioneering team and some fellows like Moses and Christine Nugroho, Timotius Winarso, and Priscilla Tjajadi started looking for a place to host weekly service.

It was first decided to be done in Hilton Hotel. The first IEC-LA worship service was done Sunday, June 17, 2007 and was led by Rev. Caleb Tong. Present at the event were Rev. Albert Rumbo, Eld. Eddy Tan, and Eld. Kurniadi Tjandra. After going for 11 months, God opened a way (through information provided by Kim Utama), to rent the building of Korean 7th Day Adventist Church at 4203 Rosemead Boulevard, Rosemead, CA 91770. On May 18, 2020 hence began the worship service of IEC-LA to this day.

IEC-LA fellowships and events outside Sunday are done in the parsonage 6120 Kauffman Ave, Temple City, CA 91780, which was rented from August 2007. By the grace of God, this location was bought by GII Hok Im Tong Bandung in June 2011.
